Ahoy and welcome to the crew! This is the Red Marley speaking, your ghost ship in Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew. Please sit down and listen to the briefing, while I introduce you to my dear cursed pirate crew.
They sail the Lost Caribbean with me and use their supernatural abilities to defy the evil Inquisition of the Burning Maiden. Together we will go on an epic heist to make sure their twisted devout army doesn’t get a hand on the the mysterious treasure of Captain Mordechai, that is believed to contain otherworldly powers and was hidden deep in the Lost Caribbean.
Please have a look at the mission briefing with me to get to know them member by member – or the new Characters Trailer as my friends at Mimimi Games like to call it:
Meet the Crew
Afia Manicato – The Navigator
Role: Navigator – Handles maps and navigation on board.
Chooses entry points and makes moment to moment decisions in missions. She is the latest addition to my merry crew.
Powers: Blink – By drawing the sword from her chest, she can unhinge herself from space-time and instantly teleport from one place to another. After she teleports, she must quickly replace the sword or her body will become unstable.
She can also use Time Freeze to freeze a person in space-time for a few seconds with a snap of her fingers. The target remains completely unaware while this is happening, and continues what they are doing once the effect is over. She was first introduced during the announcement of Shadow Gambit.
Mr. Mercury – The Shipwright
Role: Shipwright – My caretaker. You can always see him scurrying around, hammering some ghost nails back in place or scrubbing the deck.
Powers: Soul Diver – Able to use his anchor to open a portal to the Below where he can hide for eternity if needed. He can also return through the portal and use his force of entry to jolt the anchor up in the air and whack an enemy dead with it.
Summons his pet fish Sir Reginald to distract enemies. He was first introduced during the announcement of Shadow Gambit.
Gaëlle le Bris – The Master Cannoness
Nationality: Breton (French)
Role: Cannoness – Whatever weapons and cannons need tending to on deck, Gaëlle is here to fix, fire and maintain them.
Powers: “Ar Kanol” – Which is Breton for “the cannon”. Her magical cannon can shoot any (un)willing person as far as the eye can see, knocking them – and whoever she’s aiming at – out cold.
Her Kanol comes equipped with an evenly magical rope which can grapple and suck in friends in the Kanol.
She was first introduced during the announcement of Shadow Gambit.
Suleidy – The Ship Doctor
Roles: Ship Doctor, Researcher – Cultivates soul infused plants for experiments and medicine. Treats nasty things that can infect a cursed crew, like Spectral Scurvy, Creeping Hollow and Dread Vine’s Touch. Researches the mysteries of the Soul.
Powers: Skull Seeds – Distills aspects of her own soul and grows them as fruit that have various effects.
Cover Seeds create a concealing bush on impact with any ground surface.
Wander Dust contains spores that make people take a walk.
Toya of Iga – The Ship’s Cook
Role: Ship’s Cook – Prepares tasty, soul infused meals for the crew. Master of Japanese and Caribbean cuisine.
Powers: Two in One – Can leave behind a small, humanoid paper charm that only he can see, then teleport back to its location from any distance. If an enemy is within range of the charm when he teleports, Toya will kill them in stylish fashion.
Also carries a tiny whistle to attract enemies, because some tricks never get old.
He was first introduced in the Dev Insight Video.
Pinkus von Presswald – The Quartermaster
Role: Quartermaster – Keeps my books and oversees the rations & supplies for the crew.
Regularly mistreats the books as his memoires, though.
Powers: Possess – Forces his soul in the mind of our opponents and takes over their body. Will lose control of his host if the alarm is rung, though.
Quentin Aalbers – The Treasure Hunter
Role: Treasure Hunter – Sits on my rails and casts his rod out for treasure.
Power: The Golden Head – Takes of his golden head and throws it on the floor. Inexperienced members of the Inquisition are usually lured by its shininess only to be stabbed in the back moments after picking it up.
With his fishing rod he can pull other members of our crew and knocked out Inquisition enemies towards his position.
Teresa la Ciega – The Sharpshooter
Role: Sharpshooter – Lives in my crow’s nest. Can sense incoming ships from miles away, especially Inquisition ships. Takes out high value targets from afar.
Powers: Bolt of Judgement – Can shoot two kinds of bolts, delivering two kinds of judgement.
Ashen Judgement – A bolt of ash that briefly blinds the target, but leaves them otherwise unharmed.
Iron Judgement –A bolt of deadly soul energy that either kills or incapacitates the target.
